22 months.

Oh my, these last few weeks have flown by. Age 2 is fast approaching and so much is going on in this little one's world. Here are some things I want to remember forever.

She's started to get more creative with pretend play and we often spend long periods of time pretending to do something or be something. There is a lot of repetition and if she wasn't so darn adorable I would be bored to tears. But she is that cute and so there are no tears. Lucky!

Edie is getting really good at friendship. Now that her memory goes beyond the previous 3 weeks she is getting better and better at building relationships with people outside our house. She talks about friends and family all the time and is intensely interested in learning peoples names when she first meets them. She's picking up on social cues too. She says (yells) "Hi mama!" when she gets home from hanging out with her papa and knows exactly what people mean when they ask how she is or if she is good (today she told me "I not goot" because she has a little cold) and sometimes randomly asks "How yoooo?".

Edie-Pai is still in deep deep love with nursery rhymes and songs and is getting better and better at recalling the words and singing along. We go to a music play group once a week and she loves it. Usually this babe sticks to my side and stays quiet when we're out and about but not at Rock n' Rhyme. Here she yells, claps, sings and dances along and always always parrots what the women leading are saying. If they finish a song and say "well done everybody", Edie yells "well done errydoddee" in response from our spot in amongst the crowds of littles and their mama's.

Every morning before J leaves for school, I tie up his hair and make sure he is covered in sunblock and every morning without fail Edie asks "Edie hair tie?" and "block on too?" I find myself resisting tying her hair in clips and bows, wanting to steer clear of pushing too much "girl" stuff on her and so it's funny that the reason she wants this for herself is because of her beloved brother (or bradah as she says).

Still book obsessed, she has been doing a lot of this:

Which basically means that I am melted and exploded all the time all day because cuteness. Feeling like the luckiest mama in the world right now.

I write these monthly updates as a way of keeping track of all Edies new tricks, interests, phases and stages and to keep all our far away friends in the loop. I'm not sure if I'll continue after E turns two but we shall see. Til next month!
