WW 27/2 - Little red dress

This dress was given to me by a friend. She had it made in Vietnam while she was travelling but didn't love it so she ended up passing it on to me. So a free dress means I win at Buying Less Crap right? I hope so because I caved and got myself these blue tights this week. This is my first new purchase since the beginning of the year and I was down to just one pair of plain tights so I needed them pretty seriously. I do feel like I should have figured out a better solution though, needing tights was my first real challenge and I totally just went out and got 'em without thinking too much about it. So while I have definitely curbed the buying crap habit on the whole, when I 'need' something I'm going to have to find more creative solutions. As far as the dress goes, I like it. It's way more feminine (floral! gathering! red! a waist!) than most things I wear but I'm really enjoying looking super girly lately and despite serious urges to get my hair chopped short again (I did cut my fringe the other day though, I love me a short fringe), I've resisted so far.

Geez, sway back much?
I don't know if there is an ethical way to produce and distribute something like tights or stockings. Nylons can't be good for the environment but to be honest I don't think I can give them up. Not wearing tights means not wearing dresses or skirts because I hardly ever feel like 'getting my legs out', weedy toothpicks that they are (See how my arm looks wider than my calf? Yeah... that) so I don't think I'll be giving them up any time soon.

If anyone is planning to produce organic, free range, sweatshop free stockings letmeknowokay? Word.

    1. Blush. Liking the way I write means so much more to me than any compliments on my outfit! Thank you.

  2. There are some organic cotton tights available- even in supermarkets I think. And 'Imprint' have made in NZ, handprinted tights. Imperfect solutions though...

    1. Thanks for the heads up Jemma, I've seen the printed tights around Cuba st but not the organic tights. They will be great for when the weather cools.

    1. Yep, they're called plugs or if you have hollow jewellery then "flesh tunnels' works too. Thank you so much!

  4. That's a gorgeous dress! I had the same urge to chop all my hair off recently, and I did. But being patient and resisting the temptation is a good way to go, too. ;)

    1. Yeah, for now. I'm sure I'll cave eventually. I always seem to get the big chop right before winter though. Thanks for your lovely comments!
